2020-2021 Mid-Year Meetings

"Stay on track!" "Get good grades!" "Strive for the best!" "Hurry up and finish!" "Can’t wait to get back to the classroom to be with my students!"

We were so heartened to hear these words from the JET participants in our mid-year Zoom meetings in January, half-way through the school and academic year. Determination galore!

This was the advice they had to offer each for staying on their pathway to become licensed classroom teachers – despite the challenges of taking on more teaching responsibilities remotely, taking college courses and even managing their own children’s remote learning. Some paraprofessionals have been asked to take on full classroom teaching responsibility given the shortage of regular teachers.

The JET mentors, who play such an important supportive role for the JET participants, commented in the meetings on the reciprocity of their relationship and how their JET mentees keep them energized and happy! Plenty of optimism to go round!

We are so proud of our JET paraprofessionals in Boston, Brockton, Fall River, New Bedford, Springfield and Worcester – now 65 participants strong!

We can’t wait to see and hear from them in June!
